About the project

A company’s value can only be realised if someone else can take it over without the founder. KOVADO helps small and mid-sized companies reduce their dependence on the owner and prepare for a sale or a management handover. The choice between the two comes at the end, not at the start.

The programme is designed for owners of companies with annual revenue of roughly CZK 15 to 80 million who are still involved in operations and have no clear successor. It starts with a diagnostic of how transferable the company is and continues with modules on leadership, sales and processes, assets and the choice of next steps.

My role

I am the author of the KOVADO Diamond methodology: five pillars of independence from the owner and four maturity levels used to measure progress. KOVADO builds on FORECOM’s agency work but targets a different segment and service: instead of marketing and CRM, it addresses whether the whole company can be handed over.

Why I got involved

With FORECOM clients I kept seeing companies that grow but depend on one person. Agency work covered marketing and CRM, not what happens to the company when the owner steps back.
